- Dealing with Accelerating Change |
Overview and Objective
Participants in this
Eagle Learning Center course are challenged to consider
the changes affecting their lives from two perspectives:
personal and professional. Three major ideas are explored
for their value to each perspective: loss of control,
fear, and Response Ability.
Loss
of control: change in a shrinking world community
- Business practices
based on predictability and 17th century ideas.
- Personal need for
control.
- The right stuff: the
ability to deal with ambiguity.
Fear:
the primary obstacle to dealing with change
- The cost(s) of not
letting go of the "old trapeze."
- Organizational
assessment: are you cocooning or innovating?
- Personal assessment:
what are the threats? what are the opportunities?
Response-Ability:
choices to be made
- Whose job is it?
- Your personality style
and how you assert yourself.
- Contracting with
yourself and others to get things done.
Resolving
Issues and Concerns
- 3 reactions to
tension: Fight - Flight - Freeze.
- Using personality
style insight to understand how people act under
tension.
- Using the
R-O-L-A-I-D-S skill to negotiate mutually agreed upon
solutions.
- Managing your fear to
remain calm. The A,B,C,D's of feeling the way you want
to feel.
